Postpartum Health: It’s Not Just About A Kegel

Pregnancy and childbirth take a heavy toll on our bodies. Have you noticed any of these physical changes since childbirth:

  • urinary leakage when you sneeze or laugh
  • leakage during exercise
  • painful intercourse
  • fullness in the pelvis
  • pelvic, back or vaginal pain
  • constipation
  • diarrhea

These conditions are not a mom's "new normal." They could be signs of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), which affects 50% of women. But there's good news! Easy solutions exist (NOT Poise pads!) to help correct these annoying and embarrassing health issues.

Mary Anne Snavely is the Owner and President of Pelvic Health Systems. As a mom who had PFD, she'll discuss why it's important to seek help early, the long-term risks if PFD is ignored and what you can do (beyond kegels) to get your pelvic floor muscles back in shape.
